  • Useless Update and an OMFG

The OMFG refers to the fact that somebody, some weirdo, somewhere, has been crawling my pages looking for pictures of my kid.

    That creeps me out.

And YES, I know! my fault. What do you expect J? You put it out there, you put it out there! Duh.

I'm toying with the idea of switching platforms. Not that I do much blogging these days anyway, but when I do, it's partly because I want to share something with my friends. And hell, that includes bragging about my gorgeous daughter.

I've gone and switched some settings on blogger (mirror site to this one). Dumbass me didn't realize I'd allowed g**gle to crawl my site. Another Duh there. I really like using bl*gger, but the one thing it's missing is the option to privatize your posts. Your either wide open or slammed shut. Or, you can give yourself a migraine adding people to some sort of 'allow' list that I have no clue how to use.

    Another day.

For the time being, here on Xanga, I've protected the recent posts that feature her cute little face. So there g**gle. Bite me.

As for your useless update ... HI! *waves*

  • Who's She?

Somedays, like today, when I'm out and about running errands or whatnot, I'll catch a glimpse of myself in a store mirror or window, and sometimes, like today, I wonder who in the hell that older woman is looking back at me.

    Does that happen to you?

It's strange.  I always feel a little jolt of shock when she stares back at me.

  • Shades of ... arrgggghhhh!

So after at least two years of wanting to paint my main floor, but not being entirely sick of what I have yet, I finally came to the conclusion that I am painting this week, come hell or high water.

    That was LAST week .

My main floor is basically livingroom/kitchen running into each other, with a breakfast bar to seperate the two.  Open concept is nice, but proves to be a pain when picking colours.  Right now, it looks like this ...
    house2 (9) house3 002 house2 (7)
    1. livingroom                            2. looking into kitchen                  3. kitchen

Hard to get it right in pictures, but it's golden yellow with the same shade cut lighter in the kitchen.

And yeah, it looks alright, but I'm bored now.  And I want to bring things up to date a little, but still keep it warm and inviting.  So I was thinking browns would be pretty easy.

    NOT EASY!!!

Man oh man who knew there were 50 million shades of brown??!!!  And I'm thinking I want a reddish/brown and what could be easier, right?  WRONG!

Whatever.  I'm working on it.  Two mis-tints later, still working on it.

The curtains and toss pillows will be replaced with creams, along with thicker curtain rods and nicer finials, and the armoire and coffee table are going out the door in favour of dark wood.  Really, really rich dark wood.

So.  That's what I'm up to.  In between cleaning the garage out (almost done) and refinishing a craft armoire for my office area (not even started), I manage to keep myself somewhat out of trouble .

    Projects!

But I gotta tell ya, I'm about ready to just slap a few coats of white on everything and be done with it.

  • Because I Rock Like That

I got almost every single item on that list down there done by Friday.  The only thing that saved me on daughter's room was the fact that her bus was three hours late arriving home from Quebec.  yay!  Funny how that would normally, under any other circumstances, annoy the snot out of me.  heh.

Only two things yet to be completed.

    1) The seat cushions for the patio.  But look!  I started today...

So there!  One down, seven to go!  LOL ... that's including the backs, which I'm not quite sure I'm going to do yet.  Oh, and I'm told by the lazyass Husband that covered seats on those planter thingies he made (you can sort of see them behind the chair there) would look nice, so I'll probably do that too.

These are the butt-fugly, faded out cushions I was dealing with ...

    Ick.

    2) I didn't get around to taking photos of the lilacs and crabapple tree in bloom.  But I DID manage to at least snap this shot ...

Lilacs I snipped and placed on my bedside table.  Love, love, love the smell of lilacs.

So, this week I'll be finishing up the deck ... cushions, planters and whatnot.  I'll take a picture when it's all done (of course!) if it turns out halfway decent.

And pics of the daughter's new room are coming too.  I had to take some today when the sun FINALLY came out of hiding.  The ones I snapped when I finished up on Friday were much too dark and looked like crap.

So, 'til then!  ciao wenches .

  • To Do

    before friday:

patch walls, sand and paint daughter's room
    find new bedding to match
    (hmmmm ... or vice versa)
make or buy curtains to match
move her ikea towers to her closet and install rods
mulch the garden before I end up weeding and edging again
Sew new chair pads for the deck
clean the house before Grandpa gets here friday
find something for the daughter to wear for Confirmation on Sunday
take some pics of the gorgeous crabapple tree before the blooms fall off
screw around on the computer and procrastinate about it all

and probably something else I'm forgetting ...

    any helpers?
